(OOC/player information)

Cain Locke

  • Midlander hyur

  • Late 20's

  • Spellslinger, adventurer

  • Observant, introverted, adventurous, self-doubting

  • Current residence:
    the Stray Inn, South Shroud

  • Server: Balmung (Crystal DC)

"I might not be the best person for the job,
but I'll be damned if I don't try at least."

With his two-tone braided hair, Cain is considered memorable by many; ‘pretty’ is another alternative, despite tiredness occasionally marring his youthful face. Still, that is just one facet. Others tend to be hidden away from strangers – much like how loose-fitting clothes cover his narrow and skinny frame or how his velvety voice only rarely slips into a rural Thanalan accent.Cain’s eternal life goal is to become a “proper” adventurer. He is curious, analytic and hard-working but doesn’t always manage to look as impressive as he’d want to. Nevertheless, he isn’t going to to give up improving himself, nor is he afraid of the risks and dangers that tend to come with adventuring.Beneath the cover of a desertborn Midlander lies a multitude of layers: an awkward artist, a thoughtful companion, a snarky spellslinger… and someone who had to fend for himself before he was given a second chance at life. The circumstances may have made Cain tough, but underneath the aloof surface lies a sensitive soul.

  • Never idle: While Cain prefers using his spellwork to earn a living, he isn’t above doing less “exciting” jobs every now and then, such as courier work or fishing.

  • Coffeeholic: The faint scent lingering around him betrays Cain's love for coffee. He occasionally visits cafés and other establishments, though it's rare to see him consume anything else besides black coffee.

  • Artist in partial denial: Cain likes to observe random passers-by and sketches them if they look “interesting”. For a long time, it was just a hobby, but there have been rumours of an artist with the initials 'C.L.' doing commissions in Gridania and its vicinity.

Storm Haeron

  • Highlander hyur

  • Late 40's

  • Book merchant, artisan

  • Taciturn, idealistic, supportive, rigid

  • Current residence:
    Ul'dah, Thanalan

  • Server: Balmung (Crystal DC)

"Very well. If that is how you see it,
then I will honour your decision."

Storm is full of curious opposites. An impassive merchant who is keen on helping the downtrodden; a former adventurer who avoids using his magicks. Though years have softened his frame, he still cuts an impressive figure with his tall stature, broad shoulders and soldierly bearing. At a first glance, he might seem a little intimidating, but the initial impression soon gives way to an unusual code of morals and a deep sense of honour. This is a man who pays back any favours he owns and isn’t motivated by personal gain – and a select few might even get to see glimpses of a dry humour.Past is something Storm next to never discusses; his eyes are set on the present and the future. Still, if one were to dig deep enough, they might find a history buried underneath a changed identity, hidden scars... and lots of regret.Though his face may seem to be made of stone, his heart definity isn't.

  • Bookshop keeper: Storm is one of the owners of the bookshop-café ‘Cup of Knowledge’ in Mist. While the shop specializes in manuals and other non-fiction, it deals in almost all kinds of books, provided that they are legal. Storm also binds and repairs books as well as crafts enchanted ink.

  • Aether-sensitive: Storm is able to sense magicks, but aetherial density can also conversely make him nauseous, be it in people, objects or locations.

  • Benefactor: Sympathetic to the plights of those who struggle, Storm has sometimes offered help in the form of services or even money. He tends to orientate towards potential spellcasters, but anyone with even semi-honourable goals is an option.

Merces Ninthstar

  • Midlander hyur

  • Early 30's (assumed)

  • Guard, swordsman, (formerly) retainer

  • Solemn, servile, logical, detached

  • Current residence:
    the Stray Inn, South Shroud

  • Server: Mateus (Crystal DC)

"I appreciate the compliments,
but being able to serve is enough to please me."

At a first glance, Merces seems to be a fairly average Midlander: averagely tall, averagely athletic and averagely handsome. Neither his looks or personality are particularly memorable, unless you count the formal and even somewhat humourless demeanour. It's almost like he tries not to be memorable. While he is eager to help others and doesn't mind conversations, he seldom expresses any strong opinions and often prefers to listen more than talk. One could say that he acts more like a servant than a friend. There are other curious things about the man, too. Despite fighting being his forte, he speaks a bit like a philosopher or an academician, and he tends to deflect most questions about his background. Furthermore, he sometimes acts as if relatively common things confused him. What lies behind those viridian eyes...?

  • At your service: When Merces isn’t busy working at the inn he’s staying at, he tends to make use of his skills, whether that means carrying things, fighting beasts or serving as a temporary bodyguard.

  • Cloud watcher: Sky and clouds fascinate Merces, and he can sometimes be seen observing them during his breaks. He is also interested in the scientific explanations related to the subject and likes to discuss what lies beyond the skies.

  • Migraines: Someone may have witnessed Merces clutch his head and lose focus in whatever he was doing, whether at a city or at the inn. These bouts come and go, seemingly with no explanation, but he has been discreetly searching for an alchemist or a healer capable of treating his affliction.

G'ilas Tia

  • Seeker of Sun miqo’te

  • Mid-30's

  • Adventurer, healer, treasure hunter

  • Cheerful, outgoing, self-assured, careless

  • Current residence:
    Mist, La Noscea

  • Server: Omega (Chaos DC)

"C'mon, life is too full of adventures
to be second-guessing yourself!"

Sturdy and healthy, dressed up in bright red garb and quick to laugh, G'ilas seems to exude energy and a joy for life. The relative simple wooden cane he carries forms a contrast to his vibrant clothing and also reveals his calling, even before the warmth of his healing spells or the winds he summons do.It's easy to like him - even if his optimism and extroverted nature might be a little overwhelming at times. He observes the world around him with curiosity, approaches dangers confidently and greets people with a smile, be it new acquaintances or old friends. There's no adventure he won't jump into and no person he's not willing to befriend.Yet even G'ilas isn't always all sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes, a callous comment about death or a companion's foolhardiness makes him stop and causes his smile not to reach his eyes. Other times, something rouses a memory that makes his demeanour turn rueful or even melancholic - for a moment, before the cheerfulness returns. Is this Griffin soaring freely in the sky, or does he hide wings clipped by the storms of life?

  • Adventurer extraordinaire: G’ilas is likely to be found anywhere with rumours of treasure or exciting unusual events. When he isn’t inviting others to join him and his friends, he groups with others to go on an expedition, offering his healing skills and (in his own mind) pleasant company.

  • Fun-loving and pleasure-seeking: Being an easy-going and even somewhat hedonistic fellow, G’ilas likes to spend time relaxing at taverns and coffee shops, savouring good food and generally having fun.

  • Renounced duty: Affiliates of the Maelstrom may have heard of a young Tia from the Griffin tribe who served as a combat medic in the Foreign Levy for a couple of years. However, he resigned after the Calamity and has since avoided dealing with the Grand Companies.

Chaudelais "Chaz" Mendel

  • Duskwight Elezen

  • Late 20's

  • Rogue, mercenary, adventurer (of sorts)

  • Resilient, sardonic, resourceful, cocky

  • Current residence:
    On the road

  • Server: Balmung (Crystal DC)

"Actually, I don't just think that way. I -know- it.
Only an idiot would deny the might of books."

To call Chaz 'shady' on the first glance would not be wrong but not completely fair, either. While his dark clothes might make someone think of a thief, he wears his mask a bit too openly and is a bit too eager to pipe up to stay unnoticed. His face, when unmasked, seems to have two default expressions: a knowing smirk or an annoyed frown.Everyone who speaks with this Duskwight will quickly learn his self-given title of 'wisdom hunter', which tells much about him. Chaz tends to have input to add to almost every matter, be it knowledge or an opinion. At times blunt, he doesn't seem to care much about pleasing others, albeit he is capable of being trustworthy and even agreeing with someone. He wants to impress, and his chosen method is knowing things - even at the risk of coming off a little insufferable.Although he doesn't draw attention to it, Chaz's origins are easy to guess from his accent and tendency to swear in the name of the Fury. Other nuances start to become visible too, if one looks closely. Shelfs left more organized than before after he steals a book from them. A quiet glance cast at orphans. A bitter tone whenever heretics - or the knights of the Holy See - are mentioned.Knowledge is power, but can it bring a peace of mind or happiness to the self-proclaimed wisdom hunter?

  • Bibliophile: Chaz has a passion for books and can be often found in libraries and similar places during his free time. He also enjoys discussing the things he has read, especially if doing so offers him a chance to show off his knowledge.

  • Will fight for money: In order to earn his living (and a bit extra for his “hobbies”), Chaz occasionally joins adventurers, treasure hunters and the like in lucrative missions.

  • Displaced books: Chaz’s thirst for knowledge has led him to "borrow" books when he can’t afford them or isn’t allowed to see them. While he treats his loot with care, most of it ends up either in his own collections or somewhere else than where it was taken from, which may have earned him some notoriety.

Narangelel "Nara" Kha

  • Xaela Au Ra

  • Early 30's

  • Hunter, traveller, artisan

  • Polite, reserved, adaptive, dispassionate

  • Current residence:
    On the road

  • Server: Balmung (Crystal DC)

"There are many fascinating things in this land.
I hope I can experience most of them."

Narangelel's lithe build reveals her calling probably as well as the spear she wields. A keen eye may notice a few curious accessories and trinkets adorning her person, such a carved bracelet made from plum wood or feathers tied to her hair. A fairly heavy accent belies the time she has spent away from the Steppe, but she seems to understand the language of Eorzea well and listen to most people with a keen interest. It is fitting behaviour for a demure daughter of the Kha, one might say. Although the circumstances mean that Narangelel is seldom the one welcoming guests to her residence, she treats the people she meets with quiet grace, as long as they give her a reason to. Sometimes her curiosity may win and cause her to inquire a bit too much, but she apologises for her mistakes and moves on.On the battlefield and hunt trails, however, that quiet grace feels to turn into something else. Narangelel becomes focused or almost dissonantly serene. At times, it's as if she was dancing on the border of fearlessness and recklessness - or even numbness, despite the dangers that come with each challenge.Maybe that is why she has wandered so far from home: to search for something that would fill her soul.

  • Thrill of the hunt: Narangelel often takes leves and jobs which involve tracking and fighting a beast of some kind. Nevertheless, she doesn't mind doing other kinds of adventuring work, either, given that coin can otherwise be hard to come by.

  • Gift of woodcrafting: In addition to hunting, Narangelel trained carpentry at Azim Steppe, and the few accessories she has are made of wood and her own work. She has sometimes bartered her crafts for goods she needs, too.

  • Bird-friend: Narangelel is very fond of birds. While her lifestyle prevents her from owning any, she will often stop at markets to watch any live birds for sale or buy feathers to use as ornaments or mementos.

Masya Milavisch

  • Keeper of Moon miqo'te

  • Early 20's

  • Student

  • Enthusiastic, curious, practical, naive

  • Current residence:
    Student residence in Old Sharlayan

  • Server: Mateus (Crystal DC)

"No worries! I'm a smart girl, and that means
I'm not afraid of trying and learning."

Masya doesn't try to draw attention to herself, but her rhythmical and heavy steps, mixed herbal scent and vaguely Ilsabardian accent may do so anyway. Whether she is wearing her student's robes, a practical outfit for fieldwork or a fancier set of travel gear, there is almost always a curious twinkle in her eyes - and eagerness to roll up her sleeves and get to work. Her ears and tail readily show her emotions, but she is not wont to hide them anyway: she prefers to wear her heart on her sleeve. Masya is eager to both hear new stories and share her own, and she would rather be a team player than too proud to work with others. She isn't without her weaknesses or grumpy moments, but overall, she tends to be cheerful and filled with almost child-like wonder and optimism.Nevertheless, although those qualities make her approachable, they can also raise some questions. What makes her fall silent sometimes after she mentions her family? Is her cheerfulness a product of a sheltered life, a façade, or something entirely different? How deep do her roots go, and how far is she willing to go for them?

  • Herbs, herbs, herbs: Besides studying botanical sciences at the Studium, Masya has been trained in plant-based folk medicine. This gives her ample knowledge on how to use various herbs - and plenty of appreciation for all kinds of flowers, trees and herbs she comes across.

  • Learning her lineage: Masya's family settled in Ilsabard after moving from Bozja, and although she never saw the land, she is eager to hear stories from everyone who has even a morsel of knowledge or experience. Lately, she has also started looking into her Keeper heritage.

  • Quest for a legend: Even though Masya namely came to Eorzea to work on a botanical study, it seems she is even more driven by an urge to find something: a herb from her homelands' folk stories, said to bring luck and have near-miraculous healing properties.

Lumien Chaunollet

  • Wildwood Elezen

  • Late 20's

  • Retainer, poet

  • Kind, sensitive, understanding, unsure

  • Current residence:
    Goblet, Thanalan

  • Server: Balmung (Crystal DC)

"I-I want to do my best, but...
it isn't always the easiest thing to do."

Lumien has almost all the makings of a storybook hero: dashing looks, good manners plus family background that includes both a long lineage of Wood Wailers and a brother who served at Carteneau. When he arrived to Ul'dah, he even carried a sword. Yet the image changes as soon as he stumbles for the first time, revealing that his measured steps might be less a sign of elegance and more a way to avoid showing his clumsiness.Despite his height, he sometimes seems small in his insecurity, tendency to worry and propensity for apologising. He is kind and thoughtful when it comes to interacting with others, however, and hides a dreamy soul who expresses himself better in writing than with words or actions.Lumien left home in order to find something he could excel in, and his meandering led him to becoming a retainer for a wealthy retired adventurer. He wants to make his family proud, but a soft-spoken poet seems out of place when placed to the frontlines - or perhaps danger in general. While he isn’t afraid of fighting as such, he is worried that one stumble can turn him from a comrade-at-arms into a liability. What value does a gentle soul have when you can only go home as a battle-hardened warrior?

  • Heart of a poet: Lumien enjoys both reading and writing, and he has self-published a collection of poems. He takes interest in almost all kinds of fiction – save for raunchy subjects – and is usually eager to discuss literature.

  • Cat lover: Lumien has a soft spot for cats both large and small, and he has adopted a small black cat which he calls Noire. If he spots a cat, he is very likely to stop and at least try to pet it.

  • Aether-wielding is a difficult thing: After becoming a retainer, Lumien was given an aetherially-infused cane but has struggled to put it to use. He has slowly begun looking for a mentor to either train him in using magicks – or confirm his own belief that he is unfit to do so.

Sasameru Kokomeru

  • Dunesfolk Lalafel

  • Mid-40's

  • Scholar, merchant

  • Studious, reasonable, diplomatic, secretive

  • Current residence:
    Mist, La Noscea

  • Server: Balmung (Crystal DC)

"You might say that learning is a passion
which I've managed to turn into my profession."

Practical but well-made clothing. A neat haircut which still often looks like it could use some combing. Soft hands with ink stains, revealing that their owner isn't prone to doing manual labour yet prefers not to be idle. Sasameru doesn't hide that he is a relatively well-off academician, even if he doesn't boast it, either. He walks the line between a businessman and an absent-minded professor, whether by habit or on purpose. Sasameru can be amiable, analytic, pedantic, diplomatic, firm and no-nonsense: sometimes all in succession or almost at the same time. He seldom seems to run out patience, though, and never raises his voice. In general, the way he speaks suggests that he chooses his words carefully, making him easy to get along - but perhaps also difficult to get a grasp of. While he may seem malleable, those who argue with him may find themselves agreeing with him in the end. Or someone might catch a glimpse of something different flashing behind the eyeglasses: hidden thoughts, or perhaps calculations. There are many things Sasameru seeks to learn, but who can learn the truth about him?

  • Erudite: Research is Sasameru’s passion, and he enjoys delving into ruins or studying an arcane phenomenon when he can. Almost anything related to magic seems to be especially close to his heart, and he hires both spellcasters and physical fighters to accompany him and keep him safe.

  • Bookshop keeper: Sasameru is one of the owners of the bookshop-café ‘Cup of Knowledge’ in Mist. While the shop specializes in non-fiction, it deals in almost all kinds of books, provided that they are legal. Sasameru is also responsible for the public relations side of the business and sometimes attends galas and other social events.

  • Heir of the emporium: Sasameru's family has a long history in running an antique shop in Ul'dah. Rumours say that his maternal family included powerful magi in the past and are well aware of the happenings around the world, even to a surprising degree...

The player/OOC Info

Menord
they/them | 30+ years old | Finnish | EET timezone (UTC+2)
Thank you for taking interest in my Carrd and my characters! The list below is simply meant to give you an idea of what kind of roleplayer I am, so hopefully it doesn't feel intimidating. I tend to be fairly laid-back and open to ideas, so if you have any questions, feel free to contact me and ask.

  • Availability: I’m best available between ca. 2-7 pm US East Coast time / 7pm-12am British time.

  • Platform: I prefer in-game due to visuals etc., but Discord is also an option with established contacts.

  • Writing style: I tend to write medium-length responses (i.e. less than paragraph but more than a few words) in present tense and use /s and /em in game, but I often mirror my RP partners’ style, especially if so desired. In Discord, I am more of a paragraph roleplayer and aim to reply at least once per day to play-by-post RP.

  • Themes: Adventure and heartfelt conversations have a soft spot in my heart, but I enjoy a variety of things, from casual to intense and fluff to angst. Darker or mature themes (such as mental health issues, drugs/alcohol and violence) are also fine in moderate doses.

  • Lore: For me, lore is a guideline. I welcome headcanons and lore-bending when they make things more interesting, but I prefer characters to be at least somewhat rooted in the game world.

  • Combat: I am fine with both free-form combat and rolls.

  • Injuries: I don’t mind if my character gets injured, as long as the injury is fairly minor. For longer-lasting injuries and effects, please ask first.

  • ERP: I don’t do erotic roleplay. The majority of my characters have no interest in such physical intimacy, and the few who do will have any possible situations handled off-screen.

  • Romance/pre-established: I’m not actively looking for romantic or pre-established relationships for my characters, but I’m open to discussing them.

  • Logs: I tend to save RP logs for personal reference and can share them via Google Docs if wanted.
